Film Struggle & Hope

Among the wealth of untold stories in American history is the rise and slow disappearance of all-black towns that sprung up following the end of the Civil War. This feature-length documentary mines the stories of the last-remaining residents, while charting their heroic efforts to ensure their independence, and hopes for a better future. Followed by a panel discussion led by filmmaker Kari Barber and local historians to discuss African American history and other overlooked stories in Nevada.
